The RH PETERSON CHD-18/20 is a refractory ceramic log set designed to replicate the appearance of natural charred oak wood in vented gas fireplace applications. The set includes 7 individual logs — 5 full-size logs and 2 smaller chunk-style pieces — sized to fit 18-inch and 20-inch vented burner systems. Each log is cast from molds taken directly from real wood samples and reinforced internally with steel rods to resist chipping and cracking under repeated heat cycles. This set is sold as logs only and requires a separately purchased compatible vented burner and valve kit to operate.
The CHD-18/20 is intended for residential vented gas fireplace installations. It is not designed for use with vent-free burner systems. These logs must be paired with a certified compatible burner — not all burners are compatible, and using this log set with a non-certified burner creates serious risks including fire hazard and carbon monoxide exposure. Vented gas log sets of this type are typically installed by licensed gas fitters or experienced HVAC technicians in accordance with local gas codes and the appliance manufacturer's instructions.
Designed for use with vented burners only. Per manufacturer documentation, the Peterson G4, G45, and G46 burner series are confirmed compatible with this log set. This log set is not rated for use with non-certified or vent-free burners. A complete vented Charred Oak Log Set package with burner and valve options is also available separately.
Installation of vented gas log sets must be performed by a qualified technician licensed to work on gas appliances in the jurisdiction of the installation. Shut off the gas supply completely before servicing the burner or repositioning logs. Follow the burner manufacturer's log placement diagram exactly — improper log placement on vented burners can affect flame pattern and combustion safety. Local gas codes and the appliance manufacturer's installation instructions govern all installation requirements.
