The RESIDEO VR8215Q1669/U is a combination gas control valve designed for hot surface and direct spark ignition systems operating on 24 volts AC. It serves as the primary gas-flow regulator in 2-stage, gas-fired heating appliances, modulating between a low-fire and high-fire state to match demand. The valve handles natural gas with a capacity range from 150,000 BTU/h at 1 inch water column pressure differential, with a minimum high-fire rate of 15,000 BTU/h and a maximum of 200,000 BTU/h. Licensed HVAC technicians and gas fitters install this control as part of furnace or boiler service and replacement work.
This valve is suited for residential and light commercial gas-fired appliances that use 24 Vac control circuits with hot surface or direct spark ignition. It supports 2-stage operation, allowing the appliance to run at a reduced capacity on low fire and step up to full capacity on high fire, improving efficiency and comfort in zoned or variable-load systems. The straight-through body pattern and any-direction mounting capability make it adaptable to a wide range of equipment configurations and tight cabinet installations. An LP conversion kit is included for field conversion if needed.
Designed as a direct ignition combination gas control for 24 Vac, gas-fired appliances with capacities from 30 to 415 cfh using hot surface or direct spark ignition systems. Refer to the appliance manufacturer service documentation to confirm fitment before installation.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or gas fitter in accordance with applicable codes including the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) and local authority requirements. Shut off the gas supply at the upstream manual shutoff valve and disconnect 24 Vac power to the appliance control circuit before removing the existing valve. Verify inlet and outlet pipe sizing matches the 1/2 inch connections and confirm the regulator setpoints after installation using a manometer before returning the appliance to service. Do not over-tighten threaded gas connections; use only approved pipe thread sealant rated for gas service.
