The RESIDEO vc8714zz11/u is a 2-position, low-voltage actuator with an integrated end switch designed for direct-coupled mounting on VC Series zone control valves. Operating on a 24-volt AC supply signal, it accepts an SPST two-position control input and delivers a fast 6-second drive time with a maximum stroke of 0.4 inches. Built with a double-insulated plastic housing rated IP40, the actuator includes a selectable electronic fail-safe that can be set to normally open or normally closed. A 5-foot plenum-rated cable simplifies wiring in air-handling environments, and the self-alignment shaft adapter allows installation without draining the hydronic system. Licensed HVAC technicians and mechanical contractors are the primary installers.
This actuator is used in residential and light commercial HVAC hydronic systems including central heating and cooling, fan coil units, radiators, and convectors. It mounts directly to VC Series valves, including 1000 Series 2-way and 6000 Series 3-way valve bodies, making it applicable to both new construction and replacement projects. It is rated for cold, warm, and hot water applications with a maximum media temperature of 203 degrees F and a maximum close-off differential pressure of 60 psid.
Designed for use with VC Series valves, including 1000 Series 2-way and 6000 Series 3-way cartridge valve bodies. Suitable for cold, warm, and hot water hydronic applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or mechanical contractor familiar with low-voltage hydronic zone control systems. De-energize the control circuit and shut off the hydronic system before servicing any valve or actuator. The actuator head can be replaced without draining the system, but confirm the valve body is not under pressure before disconnecting any fittings. Wire connections should comply with applicable local codes and NEC requirements for low-voltage control wiring.
