The RESIDEO he420a1009 is a 120-volt, 1500-watt steam humidifier rated at 13 gallons per day (GPD), designed for whole-home humidity control in residential forced-air heating systems. Unlike evaporative models, it generates steam independently of furnace operation, allowing the humidistat to trigger humidification any time conditions require it. The unit ships as a complete assembly including a stainless steel humidifier body, automatic flushing timer, automatic humidistat, water filter, saddle valve, fan control relay, blower safety switch, and mounting frame. A thermal bimetallic switch wired into the furnace blower circuit closes when the unit reaches steam-producing temperature, engaging the air handler to distribute moisture throughout the home.
The he420a1009 is suited to residential applications where precise humidity control is required. Because it produces steam directly from supplied water, it delivers consistent output regardless of supply-air temperature. This makes it a practical choice in high-efficiency or two-stage furnace installations where supply-air temperatures may not be high enough to operate an evaporative bypass humidifier reliably. Licensed HVAC technicians typically handle installation, connecting the unit to the low-voltage control circuit and the home water supply using the included saddle valve.
Designed as an OEM-style whole-home steam humidifier for installation on residential forced-air heating and cooling systems. Compatible with low-voltage control circuits standard to residential gas, oil, and electric furnace installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician familiar with low-voltage wiring, plumbing connections, and local mechanical codes. Shut off power to the air handler and close the water supply before beginning installation. The blower safety switch and fan control relay must be wired into the furnace control circuit per the wiring diagram included with the unit. Follow local plumbing codes when making the potable water connection with the included saddle valve.
