The RESIDEO 1046774 is a battery-operated photoelectric smoke alarm with wireless interconnect and voice alert capability, designed for residential installation by licensed electricians or fire-alarm contractors. Powered by two AA alkaline batteries, it uses photoelectric sensing technology, which makes it particularly responsive to slow, smoldering fires. When triggered, the alarm emits a voice warning that identifies the type of danger and its location within the structure. The alarm produces a sound output of 85 dB at 10 feet and conforms to the UL 217 8th Edition standard. An end-of-life warning notifies installers and occupants when the unit requires replacement.
The 1046774 is suited for residential applications where a hardwired interconnect is not practical or where retrofitting an existing structure would require significant rewiring. Using wireless interconnect technology, when one alarm activates, all compatible alarms in the network sound simultaneously, providing whole-structure notification without running new wiring. The alarm ships with AA alkaline batteries included, making it ready for immediate installation. A test and silence button on the unit allows single-touch alarm testing or temporary silencing during nuisance events.
The 1046774 is compatible with other wireless interconnect-capable alarms in the same product family. It is listed as replacing model SA511. Confirm wireless interconnect compatibility with all other alarms in the network before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or fire-alarm technician in accordance with local building and fire codes, NFPA 72, and the manufacturer instructions included with the unit. No hardwiring is required, but placement guidelines regarding ceiling and wall mounting locations, distance from cooking appliances, and spacing between units must be followed per code. Test the wireless interconnect link with all alarms in the network after installation to confirm proper communication. Replace batteries only with the specified AA alkaline type and never disable or remove the battery to silence nuisance activations.
