The RESEARCH PRODUCTS 8144nc is a fresh air ventilator engineered for multi-family residential applications. It delivers controlled mechanical ventilation by introducing conditioned outside air into the building envelope, supporting indoor air quality across multiple dwelling units. The unit handles an airflow range of 20 to 160 CFM and ships with a MERV 6 washable filter that captures airborne particles, dust, mold spores, pollen, and common asthma triggers. The housing is fabricated from G60 sheet metal for durability in continuous-duty installations. Licensed HVAC technicians and mechanical contractors are the primary installers of this equipment.
The 8144nc is designed for multi-family construction including apartment buildings, condominiums, and similar attached-dwelling projects where code-required fresh air ventilation must be distributed to multiple units. It is compatible with the AprilAire Healthy Air System, allowing integration with AprilAire controls and accessories for a complete managed indoor air quality solution. The washable MERV 6 filter makes it practical for shared mechanical rooms where filter replacement logistics favor a cleanable media over disposables.
Compatible with the AprilAire Healthy Air System. Designed for multi-family fresh air ventilation applications requiring controlled mechanical ventilation between 20 and 160 CFM.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC contractor or mechanical technician familiar with ASHRAE 62.2 ventilation requirements and applicable local mechanical codes. Power down the air handling system and verify the circuit is de-energized before making any electrical connections. Duct connections should be sealed with mastic or listed tape to prevent air leakage that would affect measured CFM delivery. Refer to the included installation and operating manual for mounting orientation and airflow direction requirements.
