The RESEARCH PRODUCTS 6737 is a rectangular zone damper designed for use in forced-air HVAC zoning systems. It features an aluminum frame and blade construction with a power-closed, spring-open motor that operates on 24 VAC at 60 Hz, drawing 6 watts and 12 volt-amperes. The 2-wire electrical connection simplifies wiring to zone control boards. Side mounting accommodates standard duct installations where access is needed along the damper body. The unit is rated for a maximum static pressure of 1 inch water column (in-WC). Licensed HVAC technicians install this damper as part of a multi-zone control system to regulate conditioned air distribution to individual building zones.
This damper is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air zoning applications. It installs in rectangular duct sections where zone-by-zone temperature control is required. The spring-open, power-closed design means the damper defaults to the open position on loss of power, which is a common fail-safe configuration in zoning systems. It is compatible with 24-volt zone control panels that use a standard 2-wire damper output. HVAC technicians typically integrate this unit with a thermostat-driven zone controller to open and close supply ducts based on individual zone demand.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation zone damper for rectangular duct zoning systems using 24-volt, 2-wire damper control outputs.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician familiar with low-voltage zoning systems and applicable mechanical codes. Disconnect and lock out power to the air handler and zone control panel before wiring or mounting the damper. The damper must be installed in the correct airflow orientation as indicated on the unit body. Do not exceed the rated 1 in-WC static pressure in the duct system where this damper is installed.
