The RENISHAW A-5000-7809 is a disc-style CMM stylus designed for coordinate measuring machine applications that require side-scanning or undercut feature measurement. The disc configuration allows the probe to reach geometry that a standard ball stylus cannot access, making it suitable for measuring grooves, undercuts, and recessed features. It has an 18 mm ball diameter, an overall length of 8.6 mm, and an M2 thread for direct mounting to compatible CMM probe modules. The steel contact point and stainless steel stem provide consistent dimensional stability during measurement cycles. Calibration technicians and metrology lab personnel are the primary installers and operators of this stylus.
This stylus is used in dimensional inspection environments where CMM equipment is employed to verify part geometry on precision-machined components. Its disc geometry makes it particularly well-suited for measuring features such as internal grooves, snap-ring lands, and similar recessed profiles that are inaccessible to conventional ball styli. With an effective working length of 1.5 mm and a stem diameter of 4.32 mm, this stylus is intended for close-tolerance measurement tasks in tool rooms, quality control labs, and production inspection stations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement disc stylus for CMM probe systems with M2 threaded stylus connections.
Installation should be performed by a qualified metrology technician familiar with CMM probe system assembly. Power down and home the CMM before removing or installing any stylus to prevent probe crashes or damage to the machine head. Use the appropriate stylus wrench to seat the M2 thread securely without overtightening, which can damage the thread or alter probe qualification. After installation, re-qualify the stylus through the CMM controller before beginning any measurement routine.
