The REHAU 235371-023 is a 3/4-inch nominal diameter PEXa pipe with a co-extruded UV-shield layer, sold in a 20-foot length. Manufactured using REHAU's high-pressure peroxide crosslinking method, this pipe meets the PEXa standard for flexibility, freeze resistance, and long-term pressure performance. The white outer PE shield protects the pipe from ultraviolet light degradation for up to one year, making it suitable for staging, temporary exposure during rough-in, or above-grade runs prior to final enclosure. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors install this product in residential and light commercial hydronic and potable water systems.
RAUPEX UV shield pipe is well suited for potable water distribution, radiant heating, and hydronic piping applications where the pipe may be exposed to sunlight during construction. The 3/4-inch nominal size is commonly used for branch and trunk lines in residential plumbing systems and radiant floor heating manifold feeds. The co-extruded shield layer eliminates the need for separate UV protection wrap during the construction phase, simplifying the rough-in workflow on jobs with extended framing-to-enclosure timelines.
Designed as an OEM-style RAUPEX PEXa replacement or new-installation pipe for residential and light commercial potable water and hydronic heating systems using 3/4-inch PEXa-compatible fittings and expansion-style connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or mechanical contractor in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the system before cutting into any existing piping. PEXa pipe requires expansion-style tooling for proper fitting connection — do not use crimp or clamp fittings intended for PEXb or PEXc pipe without verifying fitting compatibility. Protect the pipe from physical damage during installation and ensure final enclosure within the one-year UV exposure limit.
