The REHAU 132581-023 is a 1-1/2 inch nominal RAUPEX UV Shield PEXa pipe manufactured using REHAU's high-pressure peroxide crosslinking method. This process produces a true PEXa pipe with a high crosslink density, resulting in a flexible, durable tube suited for potable water, hydronic, and radiant heating applications. A co-extruded polyethylene shield is bonded to the outer wall, providing protection from ultraviolet light exposure for up to one year. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors install this pipe in systems where temporary outdoor or sunlit staging is part of the workflow.
This pipe is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and hydronic distribution systems. The UV shield makes it practical for jobsite storage or runs that pass through unconditioned spaces with sunlight exposure before final enclosure. The 20-foot stick length works well for above-grade rough-in, mechanical room manifold feeds, and radiant panel supply and return lines. It is cut with standard PEX pipe cutters and compatible with REHAU's RAUPEX expansion fitting system.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation pipe for residential and commercial PEXa plumbing and hydronic systems using 1-1/2 inch connections and expansion-style fittings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the system before making any connections. Use the appropriate REHAU expansion tool and ring size for 1-1/2 inch PEXa fittings. Avoid exposing the pipe to sunlight for more than one year prior to burial, insulation, or final enclosure.
