The REFLECTIX INC CF70550 is a ribbed polyethylene foam sill sealer designed to reduce air leakage at the joint between a foundation wall and the sill plate. Supplied in a roll measuring 7.5 inches wide by 50 feet long, this white foam product compresses to fill irregular gaps and uneven surfaces common in residential foundation framing. It is mildew resistant and water resistant, helping protect the sill plate from moisture-related rot over time. Carpenters, framers, and general contractors typically install this material during rough framing before the mudsill or sill plate is fastened down.
This sill sealer is suited for residential and light commercial new construction as well as renovation work where the existing sill plate is being replaced or reseated. It is placed flat on top of the foundation wall, beneath the sill plate, running the full perimeter of the structure. The ribbed surface profile helps the foam conform to minor surface irregularities in concrete or masonry foundations, maintaining consistent contact for an effective air seal along the building envelope.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-construction sill sealer for standard residential and light commercial framing applications where a foam gasket is required between the concrete or masonry foundation and the wood sill plate.
Installation is performed by framers or carpenters during the mudsill stage of foundation work, prior to anchor bolt fastening. Unroll the foam along the top of the foundation wall and position it so it aligns with the sill plate layout before drilling bolt holes. Local building codes, including the International Residential Code, may specify air-sealing requirements at this location — consult the applicable code edition for your jurisdiction. No adhesive is typically required as the sill plate and anchor bolts compress the foam in place.
