The REFLECTIX INC CF30550 is a ribbed polyethylene foam sill sealer designed to reduce air leakage at the joint between a foundation wall and the sill plate. Measuring 3.5 inches wide by 50 feet long, this white foam roll compresses under the sill plate to create a continuous barrier against drafts, moisture, and the conditions that promote sill plate rot. The material is mildew resistant and water resistant, making it suitable for installation in below-grade and crawl space environments where moisture exposure is a consistent concern. Carpenters, framing contractors, and general contractors typically install this product during rough framing before the sill plate is bolted down.
This sill sealer is used in residential and light commercial new construction as well as sill plate replacement projects. It installs between the concrete or masonry foundation wall and the pressure-treated sill plate, filling gaps and surface irregularities that would otherwise allow conditioned air to escape and exterior air to infiltrate. The 50-foot roll length covers a typical residential foundation perimeter with minimal splicing. The white ribbed surface conforms to minor surface variation in the top of the foundation wall.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-construction sill sealer for use with standard dimensional lumber sill plates installed over concrete or masonry foundation walls.
Installation is typically performed by framing carpenters or general contractors during the foundation sill plate stage of construction. Unroll the foam sealer along the top of the foundation wall and position it before setting and fastening the sill plate. No adhesive is required under normal conditions, as the sill plate weight and anchor bolt hardware compress and hold the sealer in place. Follow local building codes for sill plate anchoring requirements and consult the applicable building code for air barrier continuity requirements at the foundation-to-wall transition.
