The RED DEVIL INC 466 is a high-temperature silicate cement formulated for sealing and repairing fireplaces, wood stoves, and similar solid-fuel appliances. The compound sets rock hard when fired, creating a durable bond rated to withstand continuous temperatures up to 1,000 degrees F. It ships in a 10.1 oz cartridge in black finish, allowing it to blend with cast iron and painted stove surfaces. Cleanup before curing requires only water, making it practical for field service work. HVAC technicians, fireplace installers, and hearth service professionals are the primary trades that apply this product.
This sealant is suited for residential and light commercial fireplace and wood-burning stove applications. Common uses include sealing cracks in firebox joints, repairing gaps around stove doors and gaskets, and patching mortar joints on metal or masonry stove assemblies. It is appropriate wherever a water-cleanup, high-heat-rated sealant is needed during installation or service of solid-fuel heating appliances.
Designed as an OEM-style repair sealant for residential and light commercial fireplaces, wood-burning stoves, and high-temperature solid-fuel appliance joints and seams.
Application is typically performed by a licensed hearth technician or qualified HVAC professional. Allow the appliance to cool completely before applying sealant, and ensure mating surfaces are clean and free of loose debris. Follow the manufacturer cure schedule — the sealant must be fired to reach full hardness. Consult local codes, including applicable IFGC provisions, for approved materials and clearances on solid-fuel appliance repairs.
