The RECTORSEAL rect-96427 is an X13 motor surge protector in the RSH-20 Series, designed to guard ECM-type X13 blower motors against voltage transients and power surges. Surge events are a leading cause of premature motor failure in HVAC systems, and this unit places UL Recognized protection directly in the motor circuit. Thermally fused metal oxide varistors (MOVs) provide the core protection, automatically disconnecting if the MOV reaches an unsafe temperature. A diagnostic LED gives technicians an immediate visual status check without pulling the unit from the installation.
This protector is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC applications where X13 ECM blower motors are installed. It is particularly useful in areas with frequent grid disturbances, older electrical infrastructure, or where lightning-related transients are common. The plug-and-play design allows HVAC technicians to install the unit quickly without reworking existing wiring, making it a practical addition during routine maintenance calls, motor replacements, or new equipment commissioning.
Designed for use with X13 ECM blower motors in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Consult the RSH-20 Series documentation for specific motor connector compatibility before installation.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Disconnect and lock out all power to the air handler or furnace before accessing the blower motor compartment. Verify the motor connector type matches the surge protector before plugging in. Follow applicable NEC requirements for low-voltage motor circuit protection during installation.
