The RECTORSEAL rect-96414 is a whole-home surge protector designed for installation at the main breaker panel. It combines gas discharge tube technology with thermally fused metal oxide varistors (MOVs) to absorb and redirect transient voltage surges before they reach connected equipment. Rated at 120 kA discharge current and compatible with 120/240 VAC residential service, this unit provides panel-level protection for the full electrical system. Electricians and qualified installers fit this device directly at the load center as a primary line of defense against lightning-induced and utility-sourced surges.
This surge protector is suited for residential applications where whole-home protection at the service entrance or main distribution panel is required. It is installed at the breaker panel rather than at individual outlets or sub-panels, making it appropriate for new construction, service upgrades, or retrofits to existing residential electrical systems. Its 120/240 VAC rating covers standard single-phase residential service configurations common in North American homes.
Designed as a panel-mount whole-home surge protector for standard 120/240 VAC single-phase residential electrical service.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) requirements for surge-protective devices. The main breaker must be shut off and the panel de-energized before any wiring connections are made. Verify service voltage and panel bus configuration before mounting. Do not install on panels with aluminum wiring without appropriate listed connectors.
