The RECTORSEAL m12799 is a dual run capacitor rated at 440 volts and 55/10 microfarads (MFD), designed for use in single-phase HVAC systems. Dual run capacitors serve two motor windings simultaneously, supporting both the compressor and the condenser fan motor from a single component. This design reduces the component count in the electrical panel and simplifies replacement. The round form factor is the standard configuration found in the majority of residential and light-commercial condensing units. Licensed HVAC technicians are the primary installers of this part.
This capacitor is suited for residential and light-commercial split-system air conditioners and heat pumps where a single dual run capacitor supports both the compressor and condenser fan motor. The 55 MFD side powers the compressor start winding, while the 10 MFD side powers the fan motor. The 440-volt rating provides a safe operating margin above the 208-volt to 240-volt supply voltage common in residential condensing units, helping extend service life under normal load conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement dual run capacitor for residential and light-commercial split-system air conditioning and heat pump condensing units requiring a 440-volt, 55/10 MFD round capacitor.
Capacitor replacement is performed by licensed HVAC technicians. Disconnect and lock out all power to the condensing unit before handling any capacitor, as capacitors retain a dangerous charge even after power is removed. Discharge the capacitor safely using an approved discharge tool before disconnecting any wires. Follow applicable NEC requirements and local codes for electrical work on HVAC equipment.
