The RECTORSEAL M12282 is a dual run capacitor rated at 30/7.5 MFD and 440 volts, used in residential and light commercial HVAC systems to start and run both the compressor and condenser fan motor from a single component. This round capacitor provides the sustained capacitance needed to keep motors running efficiently after startup. At 2.0 inches wide and 4.375 inches tall, it fits most standard capacitor brackets found in split-system condensing units. HVAC technicians install this part as a direct replacement when a failed capacitor causes slow-starting or non-starting motors, weak cooling performance, or compressor dropout.
This capacitor is designed for split-system air conditioners and heat pumps where a single dual-rated capacitor serves both the compressor and the condenser fan motor. The 30 MFD winding supports the compressor, and the 7.5 MFD winding supports the fan motor. The 440-volt rating makes it suitable for standard 208-230 volt single-phase condensing units, and the round form factor is the most common configuration found in residential condensing unit control compartments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement dual run capacitor for residential and light commercial split-system air conditioners and heat pumps using a 30/7.5 MFD 440-volt round capacitor.
A licensed HVAC technician should perform capacitor replacement. Always disconnect and lock out power to the condensing unit before opening the control compartment. Capacitors store a high-voltage charge even after power is removed — discharge the capacitor through a resistor before handling terminals. Follow applicable NEC requirements for disconnect placement and wire gauge when servicing the unit.
