The RECTORSEAL M12056 is a 15 microfarad (MFD), 370-volt oval run capacitor designed to support continuous motor operation in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Run capacitors maintain the phase shift required to keep single-phase motors running efficiently after startup. This unit is housed in an oval case measuring approximately 1.806 inches wide, 2.806 inches long, and 3.125 inches tall, making it a compact fit for most condenser and air handler electrical compartments. Licensed HVAC technicians typically handle this replacement as part of a seasonal tune-up or a no-cool service call.
This capacitor is suited for use in single-phase compressor and fan motor circuits found in residential split systems, package units, and similar light commercial equipment. It is commonly installed when a failed or degraded run capacitor is diagnosed as the cause of motor overheating, hard starting, or failure to run. The 370-volt rating is standard for many residential condensing unit motor applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement run capacitor for single-phase residential and light commercial HVAC motors rated at 15 MFD and 370 volts.
Run capacitor replacement is performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Disconnect and lock out all power to the unit before opening the electrical compartment. Capacitors can retain a dangerous charge even after power is removed — discharge the capacitor using an appropriate resistive discharge tool before handling. Follow all applicable NEC guidelines when working in the electrical section of HVAC equipment.
