The RECTORSEAL CORPORATION 31551 is an 8 oz brush-top pipe thread sealant formulated with PTFE for fast-dry, flexible-set performance on threaded pipe and fastener connections. It seals and lubricates threads simultaneously, reducing galling during assembly and improving breakout torque. The PTFE content enhances lubrication so fittings seat cleanly without binding. Designed for demanding refrigeration and industrial piping applications, this sealant conforms to federal specification TT-S-1732. Licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, and industrial pipefitters typically apply it wherever a reliable, positive-lock thread seal is needed on metal or plastic threaded pipe.
The 31551 is suited for refrigeration systems and industrial process piping where vibration, temperature cycling, and chemical exposure demand a durable thread seal. It is recommended for use on threaded galvanized steel, iron, brass, copper, aluminum, stainless steel, polyethylene, fiberglass reinforced pipe, PVC, and CPVC. The flexible set characteristic prevents cracking under thermal movement, making it appropriate for both refrigerant piping and general-purpose plumbing and industrial assemblies.
Recommended for use on threaded galvanized steel, iron, brass, copper, aluminum, stainless steel, polyethylene, fiberglass reinforced pipe, PVC, and CPVC pipe, as well as threaded fasteners requiring a positive-lock seal.
Apply to clean, dry male threads before assembly; a licensed pipefitter, plumber, or HVAC technician should perform the installation in accordance with applicable codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Ensure system pressure is fully relieved and the line is depressurized before breaking or making any threaded joint. Do not apply excessive sealant that could migrate into the pipe bore and contaminate system components downstream. Allow adequate cure time before pressurizing the system, following the manufacturer guidance on the container label.
