The RADIO DESIGN LABS DS-XLR3F is an XLR 3-pin female jack mounted on a D-style plate, designed for permanent installation in structured wiring panels, rack enclosures, wall plates, and stage boxes. It provides a secure, chassis-mounted termination point for balanced audio signal runs. The female XLR receptacle accepts a standard 3-pin male XLR connector, maintaining a balanced low-impedance connection suited to professional audio routing. Audio technicians, systems integrators, and electricians working on commercial A/V installations or performance venues are the primary installers for this type of component.
This D-plate jack is used wherever a fixed XLR female port is needed at a panel or enclosure cutout. Typical applications include stage audio snakes, broadcast facility patch bays, house-of-worship sound systems, conference room A/V infrastructure, and recording studio wall plates. The D-style mounting format allows it to drop into standard D-series faceplate cutouts and compatible rack panel blanks. It is sold as a single unit.
Designed as an OEM-style panel-mount component for use in standard D-series faceplate systems and compatible rack enclosure panels requiring a female XLR 3-pin port.
Installation is typically performed by audio systems integrators or licensed electricians working on low-voltage A/V infrastructure. Power down or de-energize all connected audio equipment before mounting or wiring the jack. Secure the D-plate firmly in the panel cutout per the enclosure manufacturer's hardware instructions. Follow applicable low-voltage wiring standards and local AHJ requirements for signal cabling.
