The RACO 821 is a raised-type gang box cover designed for use with 2-gang electrical outlet boxes. Constructed from 0.0625-inch pre-galvanized steel, this device cover provides a durable, corrosion-resistant finish suitable for standard electrical enclosure applications. The raised profile measures 3/4 inch and accommodates a 10 cubic inch capacity. The overall width is 7-1/16 inches, making it compatible with standard 2-gang box footprints. Meets UL 514A and CSA C22.2 approvals and conforms to ANSI and NEMA OS1 standards. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this cover during rough-in or finish electrical work in residential and light commercial construction.
This cover is used on 2-gang device boxes where a raised cover profile is required for wiring device installations. The device opening type accommodates standard switches, receptacles, and similar wiring devices. The pre-galvanized steel construction suits both dry and protected interior installations. A built-in partition feature divides boxes into separate compartments, and the cover design also fits the next smaller box size, meaning a 3-gang cover can fit a 2 or 3-gang box, offering added flexibility on the job site.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard device cover for 2-gang electrical outlet boxes conforming to NEMA OS1 dimensional standards. Per manufacturer design, a 3-gang version of this cover series also fits 2 or 3-gang boxes, and this cover fits the next smaller box size in the series.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit and verify with a voltage tester before removing or installing any box cover. Secure the cover to the gang box using the appropriate machine screws for the box type. Do not overtighten fasteners on pre-galvanized steel covers, as this may distort the cover plate or strip the box threads.
