The RAB T8-19.5-48P2S-865-DE-BYP is a T8 LED linear tube designed as a direct ballast-bypass replacement for fluorescent fixtures. Rated at 19.5 watts and 4 feet in length, it delivers 2,600 lumens at a 6500K daylight color temperature with an 80 CRI minimum. The tube uses a double-ended wiring method, meaning line voltage is applied to both ends of the fixture tombstones after the ballast is removed and bypassed. The plastic body construction keeps the tube lightweight and reduces breakage risk compared to glass. This tube is installed by licensed electricians or qualified lighting technicians performing fluorescent-to-LED retrofits in commercial and industrial sign or general-purpose lighting applications.
This tube is suited for 4-foot T8 fluorescent fixtures in retail, signage, warehouses, offices, and light commercial spaces where high output daylight-spectrum light is required. The 2-sided light emission makes it particularly effective in sign cabinets and display fixtures where 360-degree illumination improves visibility. The ballast-bypass (Type B) configuration eliminates ballast dependency, reducing maintenance points and extending overall fixture service life. Installations are typically completed in existing T8 housings after ballast removal and socket rewiring per the fixture's bypass wiring diagram.
Designed as a Type B ballast-bypass replacement for standard 4-foot T8 fluorescent fixtures. Requires removal of the existing ballast and rewiring of the fixture sockets to accept line voltage at both ends prior to installation.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician. Always de-energize the circuit at the breaker and verify absence of voltage before opening the fixture. Ballast bypass requires disconnecting and removing the existing fluorescent ballast and rewiring tombstone sockets to accept line voltage at both pin ends per NEC guidelines and the lamp manufacturer wiring diagram. Do not install this tube in a fixture that still has an active ballast connected.
