The QUIETFLEX ss0680 is a pre-formed insulation sleeve designed to wrap new or existing hard duct pipe, improving thermal efficiency and limiting condensation buildup on duct surfaces. Rated at R8.0, this sleeve provides a high level of thermal resistance suitable for both supply and return duct applications. It measures 6 inches in diameter and comes in a standard 5-foot length. A reinforced metallic polyester vapor barrier forms the outer jacket, protecting the insulation core from moisture intrusion. HVAC technicians install this sleeve over rigid sheet metal or hard pipe ductwork where additional insulation is needed without a full duct replacement.
This insulation sleeve is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC installations where hard pipe ductwork requires thermal and condensation control. Typical applications include attic runs, crawlspace installations, and mechanical room duct sections where ambient conditions cause temperature differentials that promote surface condensation. The sleeve is available in R4.2, R6.0, and R8.0 ratings to match local energy code requirements, and in both 5-foot and 10-foot lengths to accommodate different job configurations. Each box includes one starter cap to seal the end of the sleeve at the duct termination.
Designed for use over new or existing 6-inch rigid hard pipe ductwork in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Also available in additional R-value ratings and a 10-foot custom length for broader application coverage.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians. Shut down the air handling system and allow duct surfaces to reach ambient temperature before applying the sleeve to ensure proper adhesion and fit. Slide the sleeve over the hard pipe section and secure ends with appropriate duct tape or mechanical fasteners per local mechanical codes. Avoid compressing the insulation layer during installation, as compression reduces the effective R-value of the sleeve.
