The PROTO J57-530A is a soft face sledge head hammer designed for striking applications where marring or damaging the workpiece surface must be avoided. The head is constructed from urethane, a non-sparking and non-marring material suited for use on finished metal, machinery components, and sensitive assemblies. The handle is urethane-covered steel, providing a firm, shock-absorbing grip during repeated strikes. At 15 ounces head weight and 12.375 inches overall length, the J57-530A is a compact, manageable tool for use in tight spaces. It features a double-face configuration with a 1-inch face diameter, giving the installer two usable striking surfaces before a head replacement is needed.
This hammer is used across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general mechanical trades wherever a non-marring strike is required. Typical applications include seating ductwork fittings, tapping pipe assemblies, aligning sheet metal components, and driving parts that must not be deformed or scratched. The compact 12.375-inch overall length makes it practical for confined-space work and panel installations. The orange urethane handle and head provide high visibility on busy job sites.
Designed as a general-purpose soft face sledge hammer suitable for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical trade applications requiring a non-marring striking tool.
Inspect the urethane faces before each use and replace the head if faces show cracking, chunking, or significant deformation. Use appropriate eye protection when striking hardened or irregular surfaces. This tool is not intended for striking hardened steel chisels or punches. Store away from prolonged UV exposure and petroleum-based solvents to preserve urethane integrity.
