The PROTO J5560 is a 6-point hand socket designed for 1/4-inch square drive ratchets, breaker bars, and extensions. It fits a 1-7/8-inch fastener and is built from alloy steel with a chrome-plated finish for corrosion resistance and durability in shop and field environments. At 2-31/32 inches overall length, this is a standard-length socket suited for general fastener work. The 6-point design concentrates torque on the flats of the fastener rather than the corners, reducing the chance of rounding off hex hardware. Meets ASME B107.110-2012 dimensional and performance standards.
This socket is used in mechanical, maintenance, and trade applications wherever a 1-7/8-inch fastener is driven with a 1/4-inch drive tool. Typical applications include light assembly, equipment maintenance, and service work in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general mechanical trades. Its standard length makes it appropriate for open-access fastener locations where clearance is not a limiting factor. Sold individually.
Designed for use with 1/4-inch square drive ratchets, extensions, and breaker bars accepting standard hand sockets. Fits 1-7/8-inch hex fasteners.
Ensure the drive tool and socket are fully seated before applying torque to prevent slippage or socket ejection. Inspect the socket and drive tool for cracks or deformation before each use and remove from service if damage is found. Do not use hand sockets with impact drivers unless the socket is rated for impact use. Clean and dry the socket after use to preserve the chrome finish.
