The PROTO J5449XL-TT is a tethered ratchet designed for use in environments where dropped-tool prevention is critical. Built on a 1/2 inch drive platform, it features a pear-head profile and a 45-tooth gear mechanism that delivers a short 8-degree swing arc for use in tight quarters. The overall length measures 10.5 inches with a standard handle style. The tethered design incorporates an attachment point that accepts a tool lanyard, making it appropriate for work at elevation, on elevated platforms, or in any controlled-drop zone. A licensed mechanic or industrial maintenance tech is the typical end user.
This ratchet is suited for general mechanical assembly, maintenance, and service tasks where 1/2 inch drive torque is required and drop-prevention protocols are enforced. Typical applications include industrial plant maintenance, construction staging, tower work, and any jobsite operating under a dropped-object prevention program. The pear-head shape provides clearance in confined fastener access points where a full round head would not fit. The standard handle style accommodates most hand sizes without requiring an extended or ergonomic grip option.
Designed as a standard 1/2 inch drive ratchet compatible with 1/2 inch drive sockets, extensions, and adapters meeting common drive-size conventions.
This ratchet is a hand tool and does not require installation. Prior to use at elevation, attach a rated tool lanyard to the tethered attachment point in accordance with your site dropped-object prevention plan. Inspect the ratchet mechanism and tether attachment point for wear or damage before each use. Do not exceed the rated torque capacity of the ratchet or the connected socket.
