The PROTO J5446 is a 12-point hand socket designed for professional-grade fastener work in industrial, mechanical, and maintenance applications. Built from alloy steel with a chrome-plated finish, this 1-7/16 inch socket accepts a 1/2 inch drive and measures 2.125 inches in overall length, placing it in the standard-length category. The 12-point geometry engages hex fasteners at multiple contact positions, allowing shorter swing arcs in confined spaces. Machinists, millwrights, fleet mechanics, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers. The chrome finish resists surface corrosion and facilitates cleaning in shop environments.
This socket suits general mechanical assembly and disassembly tasks where 1-7/16 inch fasteners are common, including heavy equipment, industrial machinery, structural hardware, and large-bore plumbing or HVAC fittings. The standard-length profile fits most drive extensions and ratchets without clearance issues in typical access points. It is not tether-capable and is intended for conventional hand-tool use in non-elevated or controlled work areas.
Designed as an OEM-specification hand socket for use with standard 1/2 inch drive ratchets, breaker bars, torque wrenches, and extensions conforming to ASME B107.110-2012 tolerances.
Installation is performed by mechanics, millwrights, or qualified maintenance technicians using standard 1/2 inch drive hand tools. Confirm the fastener size matches the 1-7/16 inch socket before applying torque to avoid fastener rounding. Isolate or de-energize equipment and relieve any stored pressure before loosening fasteners on mechanical assemblies. This socket is not rated for tethered use and should not be used in elevated work environments where drop hazards apply.
