The PROTO J54411/4 is a hand hex bit socket designed for use with 1/2 inch drive ratchets and breaker bars. It accepts a 1/4 inch hex bit and features an overall length of 3.25 inches with a bit length of 1.75 inches. The extended reach makes it well suited for fasteners in recessed locations that shorter sockets cannot access. Licensed trades including HVAC technicians, plumbers, and electricians rely on hex bit sockets for equipment panel fasteners, access cover screws, and mechanical assembly work where hex drive fasteners are specified.
This socket fits standard 1/2 inch drive hand tools and is appropriate for both residential and commercial service applications. It works with any 1/2 inch drive ratchet, extension, or torque wrench. The 1/4 inch hex size is common on sheet metal screws, equipment housing fasteners, and structural bolts found in HVAC units, electrical panels, and plumbing fixture assemblies. The 3.25 inch overall length provides clearance when working in tight bays or around obstructions.
Designed for use with 1/2 inch drive hand tools including ratchets, extensions, and torque wrenches accepting standard square drive sockets.
Install and remove this socket by hand onto the square drive of the host tool before applying torque. Ensure the 1/4 inch hex end is fully seated in the fastener recess before driving to avoid rounding the fastener head. Inspect the socket for cracks or wear before each use and remove it from service if deformation is found. No power tools are required; use with impact drivers is not indicated unless the socket is rated for impact use.
