The PROTO J5239-20W is a hand Torx bit socket designed for T20 fasteners, driven by a 3/8 inch square drive. It measures 1-23/32 inches overall length with a 5/8 inch bit length, making it compact enough for tight spaces without sacrificing engagement depth. The socket is built for professional hand-tool use in maintenance, assembly, and repair applications where Torx fasteners are specified. Trade technicians across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general mechanical service rely on this type of socket when working with equipment panels, fan assemblies, and control enclosures that use T20 Torx hardware.
This socket fits standard 3/8 inch drive ratchets, extensions, and breaker bars. The T20 Torx profile is common in light commercial and residential equipment, including control board enclosures, sheet metal panels, and appliance fasteners. It is suited for both bench work and field service where a low-profile, dedicated Torx socket is preferred over bit-adapter combinations. At 0.11 pounds, it adds minimal weight to a tool kit.
Designed as a direct-fit hand socket for use with 3/8 inch drive ratchets, extensions, and torque wrenches where a T20 Torx drive is required.
Install and remove fasteners by hand using a 3/8 inch drive ratchet or torque wrench. Ensure the bit is fully seated in the Torx fastener recess before applying torque to avoid rounding the fastener head. De-energize and lock out equipment before removing any panel or enclosure fasteners per applicable NFPA 70E and OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Do not use impact drivers with this hand socket unless the socket is rated for impact use.
