The PROTO J4922HFL is a flare nut crowfoot wrench designed for use with a 3/8-inch drive ratchet or torque wrench. It is built to grip hex fittings from two sides, reducing the risk of rounding soft brass or steel flare nuts common in HVAC refrigerant lines, fuel lines, and hydraulic connections. The wrench size is 11/16 inch with a 6-point contact pattern, a head diameter of 1-17/32 inches, and a head thickness of 1/4 inch. The chrome-plated finish resists corrosion and simplifies cleaning after use. Licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, and mechanics are the primary installers.
This crowfoot wrench is well suited for residential and light commercial service work where standard box-end wrenches cannot access inline fittings due to obstructions such as valves, manifolds, or adjacent tubing. Its open-side design allows the tool to slide onto a fitting from the side, making it practical for refrigerant service valves, fuel line connections, and brake line fittings. The 6-point geometry distributes torque evenly across the flats, which is critical when working with soft-material fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style hand tool for use with standard 3/8-inch square drive ratchets and torque wrenches. Suitable for 11/16-inch hex flare nut fittings in HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical service applications.
This tool is used by HVAC technicians, plumbers, and mechanics during fitting installation or removal. Always relieve system pressure and, where applicable, recover refrigerant or shut off fluid supply before loosening any fittings. Seat the crowfoot squarely on the fitting flats before applying torque to avoid slippage. When used on a torque wrench at an offset angle, apply the appropriate correction factor per the torque wrench manufacturer guidelines.
