The PROTO J49018S2 is a roll pin punch made from S2 steel, designed for driving and removing roll pins in mechanical assemblies. The 1/8 inch punch tip seats into roll pin bores cleanly, and the 4.75 inch overall length gives technicians enough reach and control without sacrificing feel. With a 2.5 inch tip length, the punch is well-proportioned for both light-tap and driven strikes. S2 steel construction offers high impact toughness, resisting chipping and deformation under repeated hammer blows. This punch is a standard tool for maintenance technicians, millwrights, HVAC installers, and plumbers working with pinned mechanical connections.
This punch is suited for removing and installing roll pins in a wide range of applications including HVAC equipment assemblies, valve bodies, pump housings, gear assemblies, and general mechanical maintenance. It is appropriate for both shop and field use where controlled punch work is required on pinned components. The compact overall length makes it practical in tighter work envelopes. Sold individually, it fits into existing punch sets or works as a standalone replacement.
Designed as a standard 1/8 inch roll pin punch suitable for use in mechanical maintenance, HVAC equipment service, plumbing, and general trade applications where 1/8 inch roll pins are used.
Use with an appropriate ball-peen or mechanics hammer rated for punch work. Always support the workpiece securely to prevent movement during pin driving or removal. Wear safety glasses when striking any punch. Inspect the punch tip before each use and remove from service if the tip shows cracking or deformation.
