The PROTO J15066 is a heavy-duty impact socket built for high-torque fastening applications in industrial, fleet, and construction environments. It features a 1-1/2 inch square drive and a 4-1/8 inch hex socket opening with a 6-point contact pattern. The overall length measures 5-3/4 inches. The 6-point geometry concentrates force on the flat faces of the fastener rather than the corners, reducing fastener rounding under impact load. This socket is designed for use with 1-1/2 inch drive impact wrenches and torque multipliers. Millwrights, heavy equipment mechanics, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers.
The J15066 is suited for heavy-duty bolted connections found in large machinery, structural steel assemblies, heavy truck and equipment axles, and industrial piping flanges. Its 4-1/8 inch hex size targets large-format fasteners common in these applications. The 5-3/4 inch overall length provides clearance in recessed or partially obstructed bolt positions. This socket is intended for power impact tool use only and is not rated for use on hand-drive ratchets.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit impact socket for 1-1/2 inch drive impact wrenches and torque multipliers used in heavy industrial and equipment maintenance applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified mechanic or industrial maintenance technician familiar with high-torque impact tooling. Always verify the socket is fully seated on the drive anvil and the retaining pin or ring is engaged before applying torque. Do not use impact sockets on hand-drive ratchets or torque wrenches. Follow the equipment manufacturer torque specifications and applicable maintenance standards for the fastener being serviced.
