The PROMAX US556221 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. With a 1-inch mill diameter, 5 flutes, and a corner radius of 0.060 inches, this tool delivers a balance of rigidity and surface finish quality across both roughing and finishing operations. The proprietary PowerLayer coating extends tool life by reducing heat buildup and friction at the cutting edge. A micrograin carbide substrate supports edge sharpness retention when cutting hard and abrasive workpiece materials. This tool is installed and operated by machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians working with toolholders in production and job-shop environments.
The US556221 is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Its high helix spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in these tough-to-machine materials. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute geometry are standard for conventional CNC machining centers. At a 1.625-inch length of cut and 3-inch overall length, this stub-length configuration provides rigidity for aggressive feed rates while maintaining tool life in interrupted cuts and full-slot applications across a range of workpiece geometries.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 0.750-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for CNC machining centers and manual mills configured for right-hand cutting tools. Intended for workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium per PROMAX US556 series material application designations P, M, K, and S.
A licensed machinist or CNC operator should install this end mill into a compatible toolholder, ensuring the shank is fully seated and the retention torque meets the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut against published cutting data for the workpiece material before running. Inspect the collet bore for wear or contamination before securing the tool. Never exceed the tool's rated length of cut or engage the full flute length in a single pass.
