The PROMAX US007146 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 0.5 inch (1/2 inch) diameter, a 0.125 inch corner radius, and four flutes with a variable helix and variable index geometry. The PROMAX PowerLayer coating improves wear resistance and heat management across a wide range of workpiece materials. At 4 inches overall length with a 2.25-inch length of cut, this is a long-series tool suited for reaching into deeper pockets and profiles. It is center-cutting and configured for both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup. Machinists and CNC programmers in job shops and production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is built for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and non-ferrous metals. The coarse pitch, variable helix design reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts, making it effective for full-slotting, side milling, and profiling operations. The 0.5 inch straight cylindrical shank mounts directly into standard end mill holders and collet chucks. It is a single-end tool in a long-length configuration, appropriate for setups requiring additional reach without a reduced-shank extension.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders and collet chucks accepting a 0.5 inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and non-ferrous metals (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, N).
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC setup technicians using a compatible toolholder or collet chuck. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is seated to the correct gage length before clamping. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting - excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; apply flood or mist coolant externally at the cutting zone as required by the workpiece material and operation.
