The PROMAX 156-31414 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding metal removal and finishing operations. It features a 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch) cutting diameter with a 0.0200 inch corner radius, a 4-flute configuration, and a 40-degree high-helix spiral flute design. The AlTiN PVD coating delivers high heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous and high-temperature alloys. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 3/4 inch length of cut, this is a long-series tool suited to reaching deeper features without sacrificing rigidity. It is a single-end, centercutting design, meaning it can plunge directly into the workpiece. Machinists and toolroom professionals working with precision CNC machining centers and toolholders are the primary users.
This end mill is rated for primary use in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium - workpiece material codes P, M, and S. The coarse pitch and variable index geometry support both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool, reducing tool changes in production and job-shop environments. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1/4 inch in diameter, fitting standard collet chucks, ER toolholders, and precision shrink-fit holders of that bore size. It is suited to vertical machining centers, horizontal mills, and multi-axis CNC equipment where tight corner radii and fine surface finishes are required on hard or difficult-to-machine alloys.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank, including ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders. Intended for CNC machining operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the shank to the full recommended insertion depth in the collet or toolholder and torque the clamping mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout accelerates wear on carbide tools and degrades corner radius tolerance.
