The PROMAX 129-30814 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding material applications. It features a 1/8 inch diameter with a 0.02 inch corner radius, a 40-degree helix angle, and an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating that extends tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral configuration delivers efficient chip evacuation and a smooth finish on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. With a 1/2 inch length of cut and 1-1/2 inch overall length, this tool is suited for tight-tolerance finishing and semi-finishing passes. It is a single-end tool and is not center-cutting. Machinists and toolroom operators running CNC mills or manual knee mills are the primary users.
This end mill is used in precision machining environments including aerospace, mold and die, and general metalworking shops. The corner radius geometry reduces stress concentrations at pocket corners and extends tool engagement life compared to a sharp-corner end mill. It is well suited for profiling, slotting, and finishing passes in hardened steels, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys where the AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance. The 1/8 inch shank fits standard ER collets and small-diameter tool holders common in 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining centers.
Designed for use in standard 1/8 inch ER collet chucks and small-bore end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Part of the PROMAX Series 129 corner radius end mill line.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the spindle powered off and the machine in an e-stop or lockout-tagout state. Seat the shank fully in the collet or tool holder and torque the retention nut to the tool holder specification before running. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before cutting to protect the small-diameter shank from premature breakage. Because this tool is not center-cutting, it cannot be plunged directly into solid material and requires a ramping or helical entry strategy.
