The PROMAX 109-01616 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. Built from micrograin carbide with a ZrN (zirconium nitride) finish, this tool delivers extended wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cutting applications. It features a 1/4 inch diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 2-1/2 inch overall length, making it well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in tight setups. The 40-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. This tool is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in production and job shop settings.
This end mill is appropriate for use in vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills where a 1/4 inch shank is the required interface. The single-end design, right-hand cut, and right-hand spiral flute configuration make it compatible with standard spindle rotation on most common milling platforms. The Series 109 designation places this tool within PROMAX's line of general-purpose carbide end mills. Typical applications include contouring, pocketing, and side milling in steel, aluminum, and similar machinable materials where a 3-flute geometry is preferred for chip clearance and surface finish balance.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling option for milling setups requiring a 1/4 inch shank, 1/4 inch diameter, single-end square carbide end mill in the PROMAX Series 109 product family.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC operators using a compatible collet or end mill holder rated for 1/4 inch shank tooling. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before seating the tool, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Follow shop-specific speeds and feeds charts for the workpiece material being cut.
