The PROMAX 109-01216 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in milling operations. Built from micrograin carbide stock, it carries a ZrN (zirconium nitride) finish that extends tool life by reducing heat buildup and surface friction. The 3/16 inch cutting diameter and 5/8 inch length of cut make it well-suited for slotting, profiling, and light pocket milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a 40-degree helix angle and three spiral flutes configured for right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction, this end mill delivers efficient chip evacuation and clean edge definition. It is a single-end tool from the PROMAX Series 109 line.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines where tight tolerances and consistent finish quality are required. The 3/16 inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, allowing direct collet chuck mounting without an adapter. It is appropriate for job shops, toolrooms, and production environments working with aluminum, brass, plastics, mild steel, and similar materials. Note that this tool is not center-cutting, so plunge milling is not recommended. Side milling, peripheral profiling, and slotting are the primary intended operations.
Designed for use in any milling machine or machining center equipped with a 3/16 inch collet, ER collet chuck, or equivalent workholding that accepts a 3/16 inch straight shank. Part of the PROMAX Series 109 end mill line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with collet torque procedures and runout inspection. Secure the shank fully within the collet or chuck to the recommended insertion depth before tightening. Inspect runout with a dial indicator before cutting to ensure the tool seats within acceptable tolerance. Because this tool is not center-cutting, do not program plunge moves directly into the workpiece face - use a ramping or helical entry path instead.
