The PROMAX 108-03246 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal, composite, and engineering-grade materials. Built to Series 108 specifications, it features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 3-inch length of cut, and a 6-inch overall length, classifying it as an extra-long reach tool. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and edge retention needed for aggressive material removal while maintaining dimensional accuracy. A zirconium nitride (ZrN) finish reduces friction and extends tool life in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers in production shop, job shop, and toolroom environments install and run this end mill.
This end mill is suited for peripheral and slot milling operations where extended reach is required to access deep pockets, tall workpieces, or stepped features. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry matches standard CNC machining center spindle rotation. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Typical applications include mold and die work, aerospace component machining, and general production milling where a long-reach 0.5-inch tool is specified.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 0.5-inch straight shank; verify spindle collet or end mill holder size before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Ensure the shank is seated to the minimum recommended engagement depth in the collet or end mill holder and torqued per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Do not exceed the manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and depth of cut.
