The PROMAX 108-03236 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter with a 2 inch length of cut, a 0.5 inch shank diameter, and a 4 inch overall length, placing it in the long-reach Series 108 category. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating adds surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in moderate to high-speed applications. This end mill is centercutting, allowing it to plunge directly into the workpiece. It is suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC and manual milling machines.
The 108-03236 is used in general-purpose and production milling where a long length of cut is required to reach deep pockets, slots, or stepped features. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC milling spindles. Its micrograin carbide construction supports tight tolerances and consistent performance in steel, aluminum, brass, and similar materials. Two flutes provide generous chip clearance, making this a strong choice for slotting and roughing passes in softer materials or finishing passes where chip load must be controlled.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills with standard 0.5 inch collet or end mill holders accepting a 0.5 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the shank fully within the collet or tool holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening - never leave the shank minimally engaged to gain additional reach. Verify spindle speed and feed rate settings against manufacturer cutting data for the workpiece material before running. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as carbide tooling can fracture if run with an already-damaged edge.
