The PRO-SOURCE X-TR is a ratcheting hand tube and pipe cutter designed for cutting copper, aluminum, and brass tubing in the field or shop. The ratcheting mechanism allows controlled, progressive cuts in tight spaces where a full rotation is not possible. Cutting range runs from 1/4 inch minimum to 1-1/8 inch maximum tube outside diameter, covering the most common sizes encountered in HVAC refrigerant lines, plumbing supply runs, and light mechanical work. Overall length is 6-3/4 inches. HVAC technicians, plumbers, and pipefitters keep this tool on hand for fast, clean cuts without a pipe saw or rotary tool.
The X-TR is suited for residential and light commercial work where copper ACR tubing, soft copper water lines, aluminum conduit stub-outs, and brass fittings need to be cut cleanly and squarely. The ratcheting design is particularly useful when working inside wall cavities, equipment cabinets, or other confined areas where swinging a full-rotation cutter is not practical. It handles the tubing diameters most commonly found in split-system HVAC line sets, domestic water distribution, and hydronic piping.
Designed for use on copper, aluminum, and brass tube and pipe with outside diameters from 1/4 inch to 1-1/8 inch, consistent with standard ACR tubing, Type K/L/M copper water tube, and comparable aluminum and brass stock in those size ranges.
This tool is used by HVAC technicians and plumbers for field tube cuts during installation or service. Before cutting any tubing on an active system, isolate and recover refrigerant per EPA Section 608 requirements, or shut off water supply and relieve line pressure as applicable. Score the tube evenly and advance the cutter wheel gradually with each ratchet pass to produce a clean, burr-minimized cut. Deburr the cut end with a reamer or deburring tool before flaring, brazing, or inserting into a press or compression fitting.
