The PRO-SOURCE 90380900609 is a Schedule 80 PVC female adapter designed to transition between slip (socket) and female iron pipe thread (FIPT) end connections in plastic piping systems. At 2.5 inches, this adapter handles higher-pressure and more demanding service conditions than Schedule 40 fittings, owing to its thicker wall construction. It is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters in industrial, commercial, and heavy-duty residential applications where chemical resistance and pressure ratings are priorities. The PVC material resists corrosion, making it well suited for water treatment, irrigation, and chemical handling lines.
This adapter is used where a plain-end PVC pipe needs to connect to a female-threaded fitting, valve, or equipment port. The slip end accepts a standard 2.5-inch PVC pipe that is solvent-cemented into the socket, while the FIPT end receives a male-threaded pipe or fitting. Typical install scenarios include pump discharge assemblies, filter manifolds, chemical dosing systems, and industrial water distribution lines where Schedule 80 wall thickness is specified or required by code.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 2.5-inch nominal pipe size with solvent-cement slip connections on one end and female iron pipe thread connections on the other.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or local jurisdiction requirements. Depressurize and drain the system completely before cutting into any existing line. The slip end requires approved PVC solvent cement and primer applied per manufacturer instructions; the FIPT end requires compatible male-threaded fittings with thread sealant tape or compound rated for PVC use. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as PVC threads can crack under excessive torque.
