The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001500 is a No. 30 wire-gauge aircraft extension drill bit manufactured from high speed steel with an oxide finish. It is designed for deep-reach drilling applications in metal, composite, and structural materials common to aerospace, aviation maintenance, and general industrial work. The 135-degree split point is self-centering, reducing the need for a center punch and minimizing walking on hard or curved surfaces. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.1285 inches in diameter, matching the 0.1285-inch cutting diameter. This bit is installed by machinists, aircraft mechanics, and industrial maintenance technicians working where standard-length bits cannot reach.
This drill bit is suited for through-hole and clearance drilling in aircraft structures, sheet metal assemblies, and industrial fabrication setups. The extended 6-inch overall length and 1.625-inch flute length allow access to recessed or obstructed work areas. The spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation during drilling. The two-flute, right-hand cutting configuration is standard for use in conventional drill presses, hand drills, and CNC spindles. It meets NAS 907 Type B standards, making it appropriate for aerospace-grade applications.
Designed as a general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit compatible with standard 3-jaw chucks and collets accepting a 0.1285-inch straight-cylindrical shank, suitable for drill presses, hand drills, and CNC machining centers used in aerospace and industrial environments.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or certified aircraft maintenance technicians familiar with applicable aviation and industrial drilling standards. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before use and verify runout is within acceptable limits. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece to prevent movement during drilling. Consult applicable maintenance manuals or engineering drawings for hole tolerances and edge-distance requirements before drilling structural components.
