The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001434 is a Letter Q (0.332 inch diameter) aircraft extension drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling applications where standard-length bits cannot reach. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with an oxide finish, this bit features a 135-degree split point that is self-centering and reduces walking on entry without a center punch. The 2-flute spiral design with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration improves chip evacuation and reduces thrust. At 12 inches overall length with a 3.4375-inch flute length, it is suited for through-hole work in structural and fabrication applications. It complies with NAS 907 Type B standards.
This drill bit is used in aerospace, sheet metal, and structural fabrication work where extended reach is required. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without an adapter. Right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with conventional drilling equipment. It is appropriate for general-purpose drilling in steel, aluminum, and similar materials. Maintenance technicians, aircraft mechanics, fabricators, and industrial tradespeople are the primary users. The Series 502-12 designation identifies it within the Precision Twist Drill extended-length aircraft drill lineup.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-purpose drill bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.332-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for aircraft, fabrication, and general industrial drilling applications per Series 502-12 specifications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists, fabricators, or aircraft mechanics familiar with extended-length drill bit operation. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent movement and ensure a straight entry path. Use cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to extend bit life and maintain hole tolerance. Inspect the split point for wear or chipping before each use, as a damaged point on an extension drill can cause drift in deep-hole operations.
