The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001411 is a taper length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright/uncoated finish, it features a 118-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. The bit measures 0.2244 inches in diameter with an overall length of 5.469 inches and a flute length of 3.594 inches. A straight shank with a diameter of 0.2244 inches makes it compatible with standard drill chucks. This bit is suited for machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working in shop or field environments.
The 6001411 belongs to PRECISION TWIST DRILL Series 5ATL, which is built to DIN 340 standards. That standard governs taper length drills with longer flutes relative to diameter, making this bit appropriate for drilling deeper holes where a jobber-length bit would not reach. The 6:1 flute-to-diameter ratio gives added reach without sacrificing rigidity. It is intended for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills where a straight shank is acceptable. Right-hand spiral flutes pull chips up and out of the hole during the cut. No coolant-through capability is present, so conventional flood or mist coolant applied externally is the standard approach for heat-sensitive materials.
Designed for drilling alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel.
Installation and use should be performed by machinists or qualified technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the straight shank firmly in a properly sized drill chuck before operation, and verify that the chuck is fully tightened to prevent slippage. Always power down the machine and bring the spindle to a complete stop before changing or inspecting the bit. Use appropriate workholding to secure the workpiece, and apply external coolant or cutting fluid as needed based on the material being drilled.
