The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001382 is a high speed steel aircraft extension drill bit designed for deep-reach drilling applications where standard-length bits cannot access the work surface. Built to Series 500-12 specifications and conforming to NAS 907 Type B standards, this bit measures 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch decimal) in diameter with a 12-inch overall length, giving technicians the extended reach required for aerospace-style and structural drilling tasks. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and improves hole entry accuracy without a center punch in many materials. An oxide finish provides a baseline level of surface protection. Licensed HVAC, aviation maintenance, and sheet metal fabricators will find this bit suited to tight-access, long-reach work on aluminum, mild steel, and similar substrates.
This drill bit fits applications where a standard jobber-length bit falls short in reach. Typical use cases include drilling through fuselage panels, deep structural members, or confined assemblies in aerospace maintenance, HVAC ductwork fabrication, and general metalworking. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks without adapters. Right-hand cutting direction is compatible with conventional drill presses, hand drills, and right-angle drill attachments. The 3/4-inch spiral flute provides adequate chip evacuation for the diameter at a 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit conforming to NAS 907 Type B; fits any standard drill chuck accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch) diameter.
Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the drill chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed prior to starting the drill. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling steel or aluminum to extend bit life and improve hole finish. Wear ANSI-rated eye protection and secure the workpiece to prevent movement during drilling. Inspect the drill point for wear or chipping before each use, as a damaged 135-degree point will produce oversized or out-of-round holes.
