The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001324 is a high speed steel aircraft extension drill bit designed for deep-reach drilling applications where a standard-length bit cannot access the work. It carries a 135-degree split point that is self-centering and web-thinned, reducing the walking and thrust force typically associated with drilling into metal, composites, and structural materials. The oxide finish provides a baseline level of corrosion resistance and reduces friction during cutting. With a 1/8-inch diameter and a 12-inch overall length, this bit is built for airframe, sheet metal, and general industrial drilling tasks performed by machinists, aviation maintenance technicians, and trade professionals who need extended reach without sacrificing hole accuracy.
This drill bit is suited for through-drilling in tight or recessed areas on aircraft structures, HVAC equipment frames, electrical enclosures, and structural steel assemblies. The 1-5/8-inch flute length handles chip evacuation in materials up to that depth before the extended straight-cylindrical shank takes over. Right-hand cutting direction and two-flute spiral geometry make it compatible with standard drill presses, hand drills, and magnetic-base drills. It is a general-purpose bit appropriate for ferrous and non-ferrous metals at moderate feeds and speeds.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use aircraft extension drill bit for applications requiring NAS 907 Type B compliant tooling in 1/8-inch diameter. Part of the Precision Twist Drill Series 500-12 product line.
Aircraft extension drill bits of this type are typically installed and operated by machinists, aviation maintenance technicians, or qualified trade professionals familiar with metal drilling procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck before operation and confirm the drill is running at an appropriate speed for the material and diameter. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured securely before drilling. Follow applicable workplace safety standards and equipment manufacturer guidelines for feed rate and coolant use.
