The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001291 is a taper shank drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and similar materials. Built from high speed steel with an oxide finish, it delivers reliable performance in production and maintenance environments. The bit measures 0.2756 inches (7.00 mm) in diameter with a 5.9055-inch overall length and a 2.7165-inch flute length. A 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned tip reduce entry force and improve chip clearance. The spiral flute geometry promotes consistent chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole operations. This bit is suited for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with a No. 1 Morse taper spindle.
The 6001291 is built to DIN 345 standards, making it a direct fit for machine tool setups that call for a 1MT taper shank interface. It is appropriate for residential and commercial maintenance shops, metal fabrication facilities, and machine shops where right-hand cutting, general-purpose performance, and consistent tolerances are required. The Series 5ATS designation places it in a line of standard-geometry taper shank bits intended for everyday production drilling tasks. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary installers and users of this bit.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production drill bit for any machine tool spindle or adapter accepting a No. 1 Morse Taper (1MT) shank, per DIN 345 specifications.
Installation is performed by machinists or qualified shop technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and at a complete stop before seating or removing the taper shank. Clean both the shank taper and spindle socket of chips and oil before inserting to ensure full taper contact and accurate runout. Follow applicable workplace safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines when selecting feed rates and speeds for the workpiece material.
