The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001275 is a high speed steel aircraft extension drill bit designed for drilling in hard-to-reach locations where standard-length bits fall short. Built to Series 501-12 specifications, it features a 135-degree split point that is self-centering and web-thinned for fast, accurate starts without a center punch. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.144 inches in diameter, matching the wire size No. 27 designation. At 12 inches in overall length with a 1.875-inch spiral flute, this bit delivers the reach needed for airframe, sheet metal, and deep-cavity drilling applications. Licensed trades and maintenance professionals rely on this geometry for clean entry holes in steel, aluminum, and similar materials.
This drill bit is suited for aircraft maintenance, structural fabrication, and general metalworking applications where extended reach is required. The 4xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio and right-hand cutting direction make it a practical choice for production and repair environments. The oxide finish provides a base level of lubricity and corrosion resistance during use. It is sold individually and is appropriate for use in standard drill motors and right-angle drill attachments common in aviation and sheet metal shops.
Designed as an OEM-style aircraft extension drill bit in wire gauge size No. 27 (0.1440 inches), compatible with standard straight-cylindrical shank drill chucks used in hand drills, drill presses, and right-angle drill motors.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified technicians familiar with metalworking or aircraft maintenance procedures. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and confirm chuck compatibility with the 0.144-inch straight-cylindrical shank before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous materials to extend bit life. Inspect the drill point and flutes for wear or damage before each use.
