The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001199 is a 3/16 inch high speed steel aircraft extension drill bit designed for deep-hole and hard-to-reach drilling applications. Built to Series 500-6 specifications and conforming to NAS 907 Type B standards, this bit features a 135-degree split point that is self-centering to reduce walking on entry and minimize the need for a center punch. The oxide finish provides mild corrosion resistance and reduced friction during drilling. With a flute length of 2-5/16 inches and an overall length of 6 inches, it delivers extended reach that standard jobber-length bits cannot provide. Licensed machinists, aviation maintenance technicians, and sheet metal fabricators are the primary installers of this tool.
This extension drill bit is suited for aircraft structure work, sheet metal fabrication, and general-purpose drilling where extra reach is required. The 6-inch overall length makes it practical for drilling through structural assemblies, bulkheads, or stacked material that a standard-length bit would not reach. The right-hand spiral flute geometry with a tapered web and web-thinned point configuration promotes clean chip evacuation and reduces thrust load during drilling. It is appropriate for use in steel, aluminum, and other common aerospace and industrial materials where HSS cutting performance meets the application requirement.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use drill bit for applications conforming to NAS 907 Type B requirements; compatible with standard 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank drill chucks and drill drivers used in aircraft maintenance and general metal fabrication.
This drill bit is installed by machinists, aviation maintenance technicians, and metal fabricators using standard keyed or keyless drill chucks rated for the shank diameter. Secure the workpiece before drilling and use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to extend tool life. Operate at recommended surface footage for HSS tooling in the target material to avoid overheating and premature edge wear. Always wear eye protection and follow applicable shop safety procedures when operating rotary cutting tools.
